ACS Malaysia Chapter
With more than 161,000 members, the American Chemical Society (ACS) is the world’s largest scientific society and one of the world’s leading sources of authoritative scientific information. A nonprofit organization, chartered by Congress, ACS is at the forefront of the evolving worldwide chemical enterprise and the premier professional home for chemists, chemical engineers and related professions around the globe.
ACS’ strategic goal is to create a global scientific community that engages members and other scientific professionals to advance science education, research, knowledge, interaction, and collaboration. In association with the ACS Committee on International Activities, the Office of International Activities (OIA) is the indispensable resource that advises and helps the American Chemical Society, the chemistry community, and individual chemists to advance globally. International Chemical Sciences Chapters provide a means for these ACS members to socialize, exchange technical information, and gain international recognition.
The Malaysia International Chemical Sciences Chapter was officially established on April 15th 2014. ACS Council voted, at the ACS National Meeting in Dallas on March 19, 2014, to approve the application of the Malaysia International Chemical Sciences Chapter application. The application was ratified by the ACS Board of Directors on April 15, 2014 to operate under the provision of the ACS Bylaw IX (Constitution XIV).
The principal mission of the Chapter is to provide a platform for all ACS members in Malaysia to interact with each other with following purposes:
1) communicating chemistry and chemical technology effectively among the members and also with general public,
2) establishing a strong and professional relationship with ACS Units, such as ACS International office and other International Science Chapters and ACS Divisions, and
3) assisting the Society to accomplish its international strategic plans.
